Java House Espresso

Another generous gift from our friends in Nairobi, Kenya: Espresso from @javahouseafrica. Now, the company doesn't mention the ingredients, but I'm almost 100% sure this is all Arabica. Also, judging by the uniform look of the beans, and the strong, slightly sharp, chocolatey aroma from the bag and my coffee grinder, this is Arabica of an exceptional quality. The roast is dark, around # 3 by the Finnish standard. The bag description says: Rich, caramel, chocolate. And boy, is that true. The overall taste is slightly sharper and more pungent than the Safari Lounge Espresso Blend I recently tried, but in a very good way. This is the first time I had a coffee that was described caramelly, and actually tasted like it. Yes, this is pure caramel in your cup. It's amazing how they get all these aromatic nuances out of a natural bean. At the same time, however, it's not overly sweet or goopy, but very much a masculine, strong, unadulterated Arabica with a capital A. All in all, and exactly like it's cousin from Safari Lounge, Java House Espresso is a "basic" straight Arabica espresso blend, just done so much better than most. I only have one problem with it: After having something truly great like this, most European blends taste less than interesting.
